Psalms 5:11 But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.

Our God defends those who belong to Him. A born again Christian never faces spiritual enemies alone, but is protected by the hand/presence of God!

Psalms 4:1 Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.

Prayer is an awesome privilege. The idea we are able to approach the very throne of God through Jesus Christ with requests is simply beyond amazing and comprehension. Not only that we are able to come with our requests, but that He hears and helps even in the most distressing moments of our lives! Amen!

Matthew 2:16 Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth. . .

Evil men hate those who follow God. When we have a biblical perspective of the world without Christ we understand true biblical Christianity is going to be rejected and opposed.

This year we are challenging our church to read through the Bible in one year. We are using the “One Year Bible” plan (www.oneyearbibleonline.com).

I was struck with the appropriateness of today’s passage to begin the New Year. We read the first two chapters of Genesis, reminding us of who we owe our existence to and the wonderful care He took to bring us into this world; the NT passage from Matthew 1 and 2 reminded us the beginning of the life of our Redeemer, Jesus Christ; Psalm reminded us of our need to remain close beside our righteous Savior in His Word; and Proverbs reminded us of the need to pray for wisdom throughout this New Year.

If you have never taken the challenge to read through God’s Word, join us and see God work in your life.

God Bless and Happy New Year!

Last week Deacon Charlie Sloat and Deacon John Cough filled in as we were able to get away for the Christmas holiday. We were able to spend a number of days with Pastor’s parents in Eden, NY and Heidi’s parents in Ohio. We appreciate the men who stepped in to make this possible for us.
